SparA week is a long time in retail.  In the areas in which we operate, news travels fast and this has certainly been the case in Chatteris.  Unfortunately, the  residents have been upset, rightly so, by the opening of the THIRD Budgens shop in the Town.  In their view it has removed their choice and I can understand their thinking.  The store does not belong to James Graven and is totally separate to our operation by being owned by Budgens but the public do not see it that way.  Be it franchise or company owned, the sign above the door is Budgens and as such we appear to be the same.

I have therefore taken the huge step of re branding our two forecourt shops in Chatteris to Spar.  This will hopefully clearly define our business as being separate to the store in town whilst giving our customers another choice.  The Spar range of products is excellent and like Budgens, they understand the need for fresh and chilled products.  Promotions and pricing in general is all very competitive and I  look forward to receiving customer feedback.

The one thing that remains constant during this changeover is the fact that both sites are still James Gravens.  As Spar would say, we have been “there for you” for 150 years and have done so by reacting to our customers needs.
