Happy First Birthday to our Baby Budgens in Millbrook House.

Our wonderful Wendy who is the regular team member who runs the store had arranged a birthday party for the residents. Home made cake, candles, balloons and Budgens party food all made for a fun morning for the residents and carers.

A raffle was also held which raised funds for the residents social club.

This store is a real community store with products supplied at residents requests and everybody knowing each others names. I love calling in to say Hi to everyone and with 47 more units becoming available soon, it will be busier than ever.

Here's to the next Birthday party!!

At Dersingham we hosted a library awareness day in store.

Working closely with our local village librarian, we had a day to encourage our customers to use this valuable community resource more. Leaflets detailing all of the special events and regular activities were handed out and both staff and customers were signed up on the day to become members.

Libraries are a valuable resource for all sectors of the community and with funding cuts need local people to "use it or loose it"

We were delighted to host a book signing by  local author and throughtly community minded individual Liz Johnston on Saturday.

Bringing with her a painting and beautiful costume which she had also made, together with a scary monk, Liz signed almost 50 copies of her latest book: Haunted Soham.

'tis said that every person has a book within, but few actually write it, or paint it or indeed sew it - so our hats were totally off for Liz.

Well done - a great community, inspiring day all round.

We were delighted when the Minister for Agriculture, the Rt Hon Jim Paice came to our James Graven's Budgens of Soham store to present us with a certificate for being one of the finalists in the Parliamentary Best Small Shop 2011 Competition.

The Minister spent some time with us and we were joined by James Lowman, Chief Executive of the ACS.

Pictured here are Jonathan James and the Rt Hon Jin Paice with some of our local produce.
